In house dust mite allergy, the mattress, duvet and pillow are the most important sources of allergen. Mite-proof covers are one of the measures used to reduce contact with these sources.
- The tightly woven microfibre fabric limits mites and allergens inside the mattress, duvet and pillow from reaching the surface.
- Thanks to its woven structure, the fabric breathes and stays comfortable.
- The zipped design closes the cover completely.

Covers are part of an avoidance plan
A new mattress soon starts to accumulate mite allergen, so replacing the mattress alone is not a solution. Covers make sense when used together with the following measures:
- Washing sheets and bedding weekly at 60 °C or higher,
- Keeping indoor humidity below 50% and ventilating the room regularly,
- Reducing dust-collecting items in the bedroom such as carpets, heavy curtains and soft toys,
- Using a vacuum cleaner with a HEPA filter.
Current guidelines (e.g. GINA) state that mite avoidance measures on their own do not markedly reduce asthma symptoms, while multi-faceted measures may be beneficial, particularly in children. Covers do not replace medication or allergen immunotherapy; decide together with your physician which measures are right for you.
